This "phantom" lamp is a great piece of creative design. The black, brass, and copper base is handsome and intriguing, and the vertical light-saber-like frosted glass around the elongated bulb make it look like something out of Star Wars. This Rennaissance table lamp is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, with a satisfying heft, quality brass electrical parts, and a gorgeous blue finish. This Candy Purple lamp is just that; it has a dark purple finish so vibrant it almost looks metallic, though in fact it is more like enamel. Its design is simple but elegant and nicely balanced. The brass electrical parts, which I feared might be just the standard cheap stuff, turned out to be high quality stock parts made of heavy solid brass. John clearly cares about the details!

This "Wedding Cake" lamp is a great example of John Garloff's imaginative and supremely careful work. The very concept of spiraling the white cylinders around the pink central column, and fastening each cylinder on with a brass ball, is quite a stroke of inspiration. The colors--white, pink (mostly hidden and just peaking through), and brass are great together and do indeed remind one of frosting on a wedding cake.

I'm not sure how John managed to line up all these separate cylinders so perfectly with the holes he must have drilled to fasten them; there is not a gap anywhere to be seen. The lamp does just what we need it to visually in our room, and at the same time it's also a real conversation piece in its own right when you get up close to it. This is our fourth lamp from John, and all are meticulously made.
